Bucksburn Academy Pupil carries the Olympic Torch

Pupils and staff from Bucksburn Academy accompanied Alice Booth as she completed her leg of the Olympic Torch relay at Hillside, Montrose on the 12th June.

In partnership with BP the school was allocated one place and Alice was nominated by staff in recognition of all she has contributed to supporting the pupils and school aims.

Thank you and well done to all the pupils and staff who completed the mile and donated generously to achieve our total donation of £462.16 towards Sport Relief 2012

Duthie Park 5K

On Sunday 1 April 2012, 14 staff (with supporters) took part in the Duthie Park 5k run to raise money for ‘Help the Heroes’ and the school T.A.L.E. (Travel and Lifeskills Education) group.

On a rather cold and damp day, all 14 runners did themselves and the school proud with Mrs Digges (Science) coming in first for the Bucksburn team in a time of 25mins 35secs. The group have raised around £500 to help the TALE group make their £14,000 target for travelling to Croatia on an Educational Trip with World Challenge. The sponsorship collected takes our current total to £4,000. A huge thank you (and well done) goes out from the boys in TALE to all involved in the run!

Our S1/2 team are competing at the National Final of the Giant Heptathlon competition in Grangemouth next month. The girls are representing the NE district having achieved the best total score for the whole of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire!
